Focus: User-specific Quarantine iQ.Suite for Domino

What are the benefits of the user-specific Quarantine?

The Administrator is significantly relieved of his traditional duty, as the users are able to take care of any mails wrongly quarantined and deliver them to themselves where required. In addition, disk space is saved on the server in the case of mails with multiple recipients. You can also define further authorized persons for special restriction jobs and assign them Administrator rights for these jobs and the Quarantine.

As Administrator, do I have an influence on user-specific black/whitelists?

The Administrator is able to override user-specific settings, for instance through an appropriate configuration of selection rules or through a higher-ranking blacklist. Thus the final decision as to which senders are blocked (i.e. not delivered) always belongs to the Administrator.

How do I set up my jobs so that Administrator settings have top priority?

Create a job that runs with a blacklist. This job must have high priority and must not include a whitelist.

How do I configure summary notifications?

Summary notifications are generated by a Wall database job. A summary notification includes a list of all emails quarantined since the previous corresponding summary notification job was run. Thus, if you configure two or more summary notification jobs, please keep in mind that each one of these jobs reports all mails intercepted since it was last run and that each summary notification may therefore contain the same mails (but not necessarily so). If you wish to restrict summary notifications to specific Quarantine categories, create a "Quarantine Rule" selection rule.

How do I provide a group of persons with access to quarantined mails that were addressed to a mail-in database?

A person with access to a mail-in database is not necessarily allowed to access the quarantined mails from that database. To assign the right to access quarantined mails, create an ACL group with the name of the corresponding mail-in database in the address book, e.g. such as "Info". Then enter all persons entitled to access the quarantined emails in this ACL group.

What do I have to consider when assigning roles in the ACL?

Whoever is given the [Admin] role in the ACL for the Quarantine database, will see all of the mails in the Quarantine. Access to the mails is controlled through Notes rights. Please note that users need the Notes right [Editor] to be able to access the user-specific Quarantine. Without the [Deliver] role, a user will not be allowed to resend quarantined emails to himself. On the other hand, the [Resend] role also entitles the user to resend quarantined mails to any other user. To resend mails originally addressed to mail-in databases (see question 5) requires the [Resend] role if the mails are to be sent to the corresponding mail-in database.

Why do I not see all quarantined documents in the summary notification?

Either the view is restricted due to a Quarantine rule (refer to question 4), or the number of documents listed in the summary notification was too heavily restricted. It is also possible that the previous summary notification job dates back to more than 28 days, and documents older than 28 days are not included in the report.
